Israel and the Middle East

In the last half of January 1998, I went with my mother on a trip to Israel. My mother had been invited by her friend Ann to attend a classical concert series in the Red Sea resort of Eilat. She decided to bring me along, as part of her master plan to take all three of her kids to Israel, and extend the trip to a full two weeks. It would be my first visit.

We more or less covered the length of the small country, visiting not just Tel Aviv and Jerusalem but also Metullah and Eilat, the northernmost and southernmost cities. We took side trips to Jordan and Egypt, and peered over the borders into Lebanon and Syria. At one point Saudi Arabia was visible.

Thanks for the trip, Mom!

Photographs from the trip are included. I've placed them on separate pages from the text description in order to speed things up.
